man flowers

I have a certain fear.
All of the flowers are going to be roses and peonies. So while for the most part that means a ton of fluffy goodness, it can also be concerning. For evidence, see above.

My beef with rose bouts is this: they remind me of high school dances, where every single date of mine had the same tight rosebud bout. I also don't love how far it sits away from the lapel. I'd like to avoid this.
Those aren't roses, they're dahlias, but they sure are awesome. Note how the flowers lay flat across the lapel and while they're large, they're a quirky large, not "I'm a giant bud" large.

Another convincing argument:
So I think at this point, a rose is not the ideal flower bout for me. But peonies are a little delicate and I assume they would not hold up as a bout either. Do you have any last minute suggestions for a flower available in June that'd be flat and big and lovely?

oh flowers

I've been a really negligent blogger, I know. I did a brief stint in the hospital last week (it was for a totally lame reason) and since then I've been waiting on a few supplies so I could finish a DIY project and post it!

But in the meantime, you may enjoy chewing on the image I just sent my florist.

Heck yes I've rehashed a lot of images. The new stuff is all from Martha Stewart Weddings.

Also, I've committed to that color scheme, courtesy of 100 Layer Cake.

Hopefully by this weekend I have a finished..cake topper!

wowza wedding

So I get home from work, starving as usual and waiting for Mr. D to get home and make me something (oh heck yes I'm that lazy). It was a good time to check up on my blogs.

Well thank you Style Me Pretty for featuring a wedding that is so ridiculously gorgeous. ALL images are from Justin & Mary Marantz Photography.

Seriously. I. DIE.

Obviously I'm ogling all over the flowers. They're major. And that cake! What is that. It's bananas. Again, all photography is from J&M - I've died, passed on, ceased to be, expired, met my maker.

So let's just mentally swap the silver containers for gold ones and call it a day. I'll take it all.

everyone loves a mood board part 2

After my first attempt at being inspiring, I thought I should try focusing myself on a particular aspect of the wedding.

I started with the flowers since I'm pretty sure of those: pink peonies. Natch.

The super convenient part of this is being able to send it to the florist. I haven't even hired one yet, but since I'm planning at a distance, my little flower board might just be a great tool for explaining what I want.

But something magical happened on the way to making this board: I discovered the Style Circle of Style Me Pretty. I've been reading the blog since I got engaged in May 2008 and Abby, the blogger, has always created the most lovely inspiration boards. I guess she decided to spread the love because her site now features a board application! So from now on most of my boards will be from the Style Circle, which is tres convenient.

Without further ado, the flower board:
