Someone had told...aaaaaaagonized! oh did I agonize. Someone had told me I didn't have to have it figured out when we went to get our marriage license, but sure enough, there was a blank for "desired surname" on the form -- so I had to make a binding decision then and there! Needless to say, I was not happy. (Though our marriage certificate doesn't really indicate what my new last name will be... ah well.) I ended up just adding his to my three names, and I'll have a compound (but not hyphenated) last name.
